The 2008 Merlot displays elegance and finesse created by beautifully ripened fruit from a difficult vintage. Handpicked from our “Effen Hill” vineyard and handcrafted using traditional hand plunging techniques in open vat fermenters, the resultant wine displays a deep purple hue with a sweet berry nose complimented by subtle American oak nuances. The palate has a silky richness of plums and blackberries with well balanced tannins creating a long soft finish.
Although ready for immediate enjoyment it will benefit from 5+ years cellaring.

RidgeView Wines are the result of a dream, hard work and passion.
Our aim is to produce premium 100% Hunter Valley wines that are approachable whilst young yet develop character for those able to cellar over a number of years.
We believe that the wines we make are reflective of the preparation made to the soils and the viticultural practices carried out in the vineyard, with attention given to Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This means no unnecessary spraying against pests and diseases is carried out and a natural ecosystem is maintained within the vineyard.
All grapes are hand picked to minimize damaging the berries, hence, no premature oxidation of the grape juice.
Although RidgeView Wines is youthful in its existence we feel that our wines are reflective of the quality and excellence we strive for.
