I have only 350 Bottles of this Great Wine. The Giachi's Family and I have tough to share this prestigious Reserve Wine with all my friends of CARPE DIEM.
This vintage is considered one of Italy's best! both the 1996 and the 1997 Library wines are drinking wonderfully.
The 1997 Baldassarre gives you everything you want in a mature wine. Its Composed of 50% Cabernet and 50% Sangiovese, the fruit has Red and Black Cherry tones with many layers of flavor, due to the fermentation in 4 different oaks; French, chestnut, cherry and American. which gives it the aroma of rich fruit, tobacco and Asian spice. Its a pleasure to drink a wine from this vintage, you can hardly find them anymore and if you do, its hard to find good value in terms of the price.

A Legacy treasure

It wine is Tuscany's lifebloond, it is stronger than in Tenuta Torciano winery, where Pierluigi Giachi , the winemaker that together with is wife Luciana and with his sons Emanuele and Vittoria, is bringing centuries of family tradition in a new age art of winemaking. His passion reflects the the history of this winery that borns three century ago and Pierluigi Giachi has a 13° generations vinters, winemaking literally runs through Giach's veins. Like his father before him, every first born in these 13° generations of tuscan winemakers, has been taught to maintain the growth of the Giachi vineyards located among 5 estate in Tuscany region. These experiences and qualities are found in all wines of Giachi's family, winery that has earned rating Italy's top classicification and carries major prestige worldwide.

The Tenuta Torciano was founded in the 1720 from Bartolomeo Giachi. The Giachi Family originally from Florence. Bartolomeo left Florence and moved to San Gimignano. The installion of the Giachi Family in Ulignano with Bartolomeo Giachi, it is witnessed from the documents and report that we have found.

This was to became a place to drink, to rest and to meditate for the thousand of pelgrims that passed to reach the city to Rome via San Gimignano. The Tenuta Torciano Location, near "Magione di Torri" brought trade and economic development to the Giachi Family through sales of WINE, CHIANTI, VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO, RED and WHITE TABLE WINE, and OLIVE OIL.

Bartolomeo passed down the ART AND PASSION OF WINE MAKING to his son Gaetano, who then passed it down to his son Angiolo and successively to Alfredo, Romano and Pierluigi Giachi. The contact to the pilgrim and priests that passed San Gimignano every day heavily influenced the religius attitude of the Bartolomeo's niece, Veronica Giachi, who entered in the Convent of Cappuccine Nuns of Siena, and after some years Veronica became MATHER SUPERIOR.
