Monferrato, Langhe and Roero hills are well known all over the world for the Wine and in fact the vineyards distinguish the whole landscape.
The most important white vine is the Moscato Bianco or Moscato from Canelli, from which derive one Passito (raisin wine), a still wine and a Spumante (sparkling wine) . This last wine is known all over the world as Asti Spumante DOCG.
Note: the method of spumantificazione Charmat was discovered from Federico Martinotti, director of the Experimental institute for the Oenology in Asti.
As to the red sweet wines, the black Malvasia from Casorzo and Castelnuovo Don Bosco and the Brachetto from the South of Monferrato and from Acqui Terme give vin rosè.
For sure Barbera, Barolo, Dolcetto, Grignolino and Freisa are the red wine from our region.
